Football Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match winning streak came to an end by the Black Cats before the global break, but can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.
For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
Murs' latest album, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I will not force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
The singer's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' sole away victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest coach.
So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.
My son told me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great success on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's side carry much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
Olly's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be rather close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.
Fulham have have lots of quality in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.
Their display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the end of October.
But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.
Considering the home side's home form, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
