The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with employing the full worth of immobilized Russia's holdings to aid Ukraine's defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany emphasized that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to participate in talks.

They added that the move would be carried out in tight collaboration with the America.

British sanctions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russian funds since Moscow initiated its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. However, up to this point, funds provided to the Ukrainian government using Russian funds had solely been drawn from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to advance efforts toward utilizing the total worth of the seized Russian sovereign assets to conclude the conflict.

He added that additional restrictions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This announcement follows European representatives gathered in Copenhagen previously to discuss employing frozen Russia's assets for a 140-billion-euro credit to Ukraine.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump called on G7 allies to seize or utilize seized Russia's assets, as reported by news outlets.

The worth of seized Russia's assets in the European Union is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

President Zelensky urges Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to participate in the PURL initiative

The Russian government carried out extensive missile and drone strikes across the Ukrainian territory on recently, leading to power cuts in many areas of the capital city, Kyiv, and several other zones.

Two people were fatally injured and no fewer than 20 people were wounded in the attack, Ukrainian officials said.

In a post on an online platform subsequent to the incident, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault targeted non-military and power facilities.

"What is required is not mere statements but decisive action - from the America, the European Union, and the Group of Seven - in providing defense mechanisms and enforcing penalties," he emphasized.

"All penalty impositions diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky noted, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed reporters he would urge Sir Keir to join the PURL programme, under which alliance members buy military equipment from the United States to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the UK's firm backing for Ukraine, he remarked it should demonstrate clearly that it would participate in the system, as well as enforce further restrictions on Russia.
