Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of mass production for a new domestically developed interceptor drone to strengthen its air defences. The first three producers have started manufacturing, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish production lines, the defence ministry announced this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Situations

The drones utilize a domestically developed technology called “Octopus” designed to intercept Shahed drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of manufacturing as many as 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and wicked” following six people were killed and dozens injured in a wave of night-time strikes across Kyiv. The number two energy company Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with interested parties regarding its foreign assets after last month’s restrictions from Western nations and failure of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal will be announced after the final agreements are completed and required authorizations have been obtained,” the company commented.

Ukrainian President Schedules Visit to Spain

The Ukrainian leader will visit the Spanish capital, Madrid, next Tuesday to confer with parliament members a day after his trip to France, the chamber of deputies announced. The Ukrainian president would meet deputies from both chambers of the legislature throughout his stay, an official announcement confirmed.
